Oh my gosh i think we went over the top again! People came out of the woodworks in their beach attire to support the SOS Outreach Program and by the photos i’m sure you can tell that people were so incredibly pumped to rock some old school beach attire.
The shop floor had been cleared out and we made way for a volleyball court, a mini bar, twister, beach balls, a round of limbo, bboys and bgirls, raffles and really there was so much going on…i’m sad you missed it but check out the pics and you can relive the night with us!
There was a silent auction with incredible items brought to you by Ride and K2 Snowboards, Cappel Outerwear, Drake bindings, tickets to The Summit at Snoqualmie…there was so much more!
Thanks to all of the sponsors and most of all to YOU for coming out! …and if you haven’t made it to the shop to check out the Obey Giant/Shepard Fairey Gallery Exhibit you MUST pop in before the end of July!!!
EATONVILLE, WA. (July 9, 2008) – With $25,000 on the line, the 2nd Annual Malibu Pro Team Challenge will be offering one of the biggest single event purses in the sport. The three part competition – boat pass, rail jam and double-up contest – will feature some of the top pro riders in the world riding for their prospective board manufacturers, a shot at the “winning-team-take-all” prize and bragging rights as the best team in wakeboarding for the next 12 months.
The Pro Team Challenge will take place August 16th and 17th at the Silver Lake Executive Resort in Eatonville, Washington…just South of Seattle. At Silver Lake, riders will enjoy great water conditions and a rustic Pacific Northwest setting, all in the shadow of Mount Rainier. Five pro teams are scheduled to compete including defending Champions, Team Hyperlite. Teams from CWB, Gator Boards, Liquid Force and Ronix will all be on-hand to try and de-throne the Champs.
The battle kicks-off on Saturday, August 16th at 12 noon with a traditional competition run behind the tournament Malibu boat. Saturday evening from 6p-9p, riders will compete in a pool-to-lake rail jam and Sunday, August 17th the competition will wrap up with the always exciting big air double-up contest.
Already scheduled to compete are current King of Wake point’s leader – Phillip Soven, 2007 Wakeboard Magazine Rider of the Year – Rusty Malinoski, four times X-Games Gold Medalist – Danny Harf, Randall “The Vandal” Harris, Chad Sharpe, Trevor Hanson and more. The event is sanctioned by the World Wakeboard Association (WWA) and will be filmed by Alliance Multi-Media for national broadcast on action sports leader, Fuel-TV.
Event tickets are available for free at evo Gear in Seattle and at participating Malibu Boat Dealerships throughout the Northwest while supplies last. Tickets will also be available at the gate – $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for children (12 and under).
In addition to Malibu Boats, the Pro Team Challenge is sponsored in part by Monster Energy Drink, Indmar, Liquid Force Wakeboards, Hyperlite Wakeboards, CWB, Gator Boards, Ronix, evo Gear, Northwest Riders Clothing and local Malibu Dealer – Bakes Marine. Media partners include Alliance Wakeboard Magazine, Wakeworld.com, The Seattle Weekly and The End 107.7 FM.
The Silver Lake Resort offers over 50 campsites and 30 RV hook-ups on-site. For directions and/or to reserve a spot, you can contact them at (253) 274-0277 or go to www.thesilverlakeresort.com
Randa Shahin, a member of the evo family was recently injured. A bunch of Randa’s friends put together this really cool event to help offset the cost of her injury. So if you are in need of a snow fix, I couldn’t think of a better reason to slide in some summer slush.

See ya there-
Red, White & WHAT?! Maybe it was the image of a german leader biting the head off of a white peace dove or the simple portrait of Barak Obama’s face with the word “Hope” but this Fourth of July proved to be a fun one with our gallery opening of original Obey/Shepard Fairey prints.
The collection comes from August Tarantino a private collector who has over 100 original signed & numbered prints- and we have just about half of them right now. These prints were lent to us in support of the charity SOS Outreach (Gus is on the board of directors) in which we are hosting a fundraiser for on July 19th. Not only that but August also wanted to share these prints with the public to do exactly what Fairey achieves – spark conversation…..
….Many of the gallery goers on the 4th happened to be walking by evo on their way to watch fireworks and saw our open doors. Unable to resist a free beer and cool art, people funneled through the gallery stopping to discuss Fairey’s messages of political propaganda and current social issues. Many pointed with an awkward giggle at the image of our nation’s president with bloody fangs and glowing red eyes that reads “One hell of a leader!” Some enjoyed images of famous social leaders like Malcolm X or the image of skateboarder Tony Alva flipping off the camera.
The exhibit will be up throughout the entire month of July so come check it out!!
