Krochet Kids Beanies // Give the Gift of LOVE

As a part of this “Give the Gift of LOVE campaign“, local beanie makers Krochet Kids are aiming to sell 2,000 hats from December 7th-14th!!!!!

Throughout this entire week they have had 2-10 events happening every night across the nation. People in Michigan, Florida, Oklahoma, Washington, California, Montana (and more) have hosted film screenings, hot cocoa nights, and Christmas sweater parties with one goal in mind… giving LOVE to Northern Uganda. Krochet Kids will be forever grateful to these amazing individuals and we’ll be talking about them more in the weeks to come; sharing about their amazing events and stories from the week.

evo Employee Danny Martin & his greasebus trip to Baja

So one of our employees created a grease bus from scratch and iscruising to the Baja peninsula, fueled 100% by veggie oil donated by restaurants along the way!

Their bigger picture goal is to “spread global awareness of and support for the practical, attainable use of non-fossil based fuels by traveling, developing a social network and exploring man’s relationship with the natural world through cross-cultural perspectives.”

They’ve created a non-profit called Econcept Foundation and they are actually already out spreading the gospel. Their first major adventure on the bus will be down the California coast all the way to the tip of Baja, Mexico. They took off late November and will be gone 6-8 weeks. Along the way they will be showing the bus, meeting new people, and spreading the love!

Make sure to check out their blog and photo gallery!

3rd Annual Dirksen Derby // Snowboard rally race @ Mt Bachelor

The Dirksen Derby is BACK for its third season!! This race is pure comedy and skill and it’s your opportunity to win some of Josh’s killer schwag from Salomon Snowboards, Dakine, Bonfire & Scott. Join Josh and his buds for a freeride event to raise money and awareness for Tyler Eklund. And NEW this year, it’s legit, we have the MBSEF Official Timing System!

The format will remain the same this year. Emphasizing the need for speed and nice clean lines down a fun-loving, technical banked rally course peppered with bamboo gates, hay bails, cliff drops and a little bit of airtime. Register day of, at the mountain.

The cost of the event is $25 with all registration proceeds being donated to our friend Tyler Eklund who was seriously injured three years ago while snowboarding in California.

Registration is from 8 to 10 am in the lower level of the West Village Lodge.

There will be 3 divisions: Snowboard, Sit Ski and Splitboard.

Discounted Whistler Tickets @ evo!

Come in to evo to get your discounted Whistler Blackcomb day lift tickets! Save up to $13/ticket, plus with all the time you’ll save not waiting for a ticket in the ticket window line, maybe you’ll finally get on the slopes early enough to catch the Abominable Snowman before he retreats into his wilderness hideout for the day.

Not sure what abominable means? Neither was I, so I looked it up. “Worthy of causing disgust or hatred.” No wonder this guy’s so mean, I bet before everyone started calling him the Abominable Snowman a more fitting name would have been the “Big Friendly Snowman.” Or something like that.

Anyway, BFS aside, come get your Whistler Blackcomb ticket at evo, and maybe pick up some essentials from Seattle’s sweetest shop while you’re at it.

Adult Tickets:
• Retail Price – $78

Youth/Senior Tickets:
• Retail Price – $67.00

Child Tickets:

Scion’s Collection Art Show and a little local flavor!

The Collection Art Show, Presented by Scion – A two night gala event brought all who attended to a fairy tale land filled with eye catching treats from local artists Mike Ennen, Mike Yoshida, Chad Swanson, Matt French, Joey Meddock and Joe Tettrick, audible beats from local hip hop act Common Market, local screen tee crew and shop outta Bellingham, Innate…and last but certainly not least, local brews provided by our friends down the street at the Pyramid Brewhouse.  It was so cool to see so many local talents under one roof!

Friday we opened our doors for the Fremont First Friday Art Walk as usual, however this night was probably a little “unusual” for most who frequent our First Friday events.  That’s right… we had a 70″ x 168″ vinyl-covered Scion xB parked in the corner of the store ready for artists to paint it live!  DJ 100Proof was on the balcony, spinning old school tunes and Innate was screening t-shirts live during the event.

Saturday night was basically an extension of the Art Walk, however this night we cleared the entire floor to make room for more art, more beers, a stack of PAs and monitors for Common Market and tons more people!  If you didn’t make it down for either night make sure to come check out the art that still lines the gallery walls here at evo.  There were plenty of photos and videos being shot so as soon as we get some links we will post them on the blog!  For now, check out the photos that Carly shot from the two nights!
