It has kind of become a tradition over here at evo, trading up w/ our 2 plank or knuckle dragging counterparts at least once a year to celebrate the diversity in our offices. Granted, some of us both ski and snowboard regularly throughout the season, most of us don’t. This year we added a “team” component and themes. Each team had a theme, i think there was “TALL TEES”, “PROM” and “NEON” this year…. the “PROM” crew definitely took the Gold Medal. Anyhow, it was a ton of fun, you should try switching up one day! …love your neighbors whether they ski or snowboard!
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: FEBRUARY 19, 2010
“World renowned artist Dale Chihuly and Action Sports Retailer evo partner to benefit youth”
SEATTLE, WASHINGTON – On February 26, 2010 Dale Chihuly, K2 and evo will join forces to unveil a custom glass “neon tumbleweed” created by the artist. The event to benefit Big Brothers and Sisters of Seattle, will be open to the public from 6pm to 10pm. A Chihuly hand painted snowboard and pair of skis, donated by K2 will be made available by auction during the event to benefit BBS Seattle.
Dale Chihuly is one of America’s foremost artists. A native to the Northwest, he revolutionized the world of glass and has exhibited his artwork in over 200 museums around the globe. Drawing is an essential artistic outlet for Chihuly. He draws with a great deal of energy, and has used markers, chalk, and fistfuls of pencils. Now he most often uses acrylic paints in squeezable bottles, like those used to create the dramatic one-of-a-kind skis and snowboard that will be available for auction to benefit BBS Seattle.
Big Brothers, Big Sisters has been a leader in one-to-one youth service for more than a century, developing positive relationships that have a direct and lasting impact on the lives of young people. Big Brothers Big Sisters mentors children, ages 6 through 18, in communities across the country – including Seattle.

evo staff Danny Niffin (aka Johnny Ringo) and Peyton Shuffield (El “Big” Bigote) both love facial hair. So much so, that they decided to use their mutual passion to raise money for Treehouse, an organization that benefits foster kids. BUT, they need your help. Go vote for them at the Beard and Stache Fest contestant page. It costs $1 to vote, and 100% of proceeds go back to Treehouse. Their team name is the “Beer’d Tenders,” and you can find them about halfway down the page. Get your stache on!
That’s right, Holy Oly is back! Swing by Summit on February 20th to watch (or compete in!) one of the NW’s most epic anti-contest! For a recap of last year’s event, check out Snowboarder Magazine’s Website!
The Summit at Snoqualmie and Lib Technologies are damn pleased to bring you the remedy to your Olympic hangover…The Holy Oly Revival on Saturday, February 20th at Summit East/Hyak.
IOC judges? Nope. Rolling Stone covers for the winners? Nope. Matching uniforms? Nope. Bob Costas? Nope. Big-Ass QP with a bunch of peeps shredding and chowing down Cobra Dogs? Oh Yeah!
The Holy Oly Revival has built itself into the biggest anti-contest in North America with a continued focus on what makes snowboarding rad…friends, progression and a 40 foot tall beer can…while taking away the aspects of contests that tend to suck…judging, structure and The Man.
“The concept of the Holy Oly from the beginning has been to have a gathering of like-minded snowboarders come together to celebrate the past, present and future of NW snowboarding.” So says event creator Krush Kulesza.
“And bananas!” chimes in Pete Saari from Lib Tech.
This year’s event returns home to the Summit East base area a year after the area suffered a year ending mudslide that still has the area closed to the public. This being the case it gives the riders and spectators their own private “Zone of Radness” featuring a 25’ tall by 60’ wide quarterpipe and the introduces “Tube City” for all your jib-oriented needs.
“An amazing zone built just for me and all my friends…and I didn’t have to learn double-corks to get it!” Lib Tech and Summit Rider, Think Thank’er and official Holy Oly emcee Jesse Burtner.
Rider/Sponsor/Media registration will be at the Main Lodge at Summit East from 10AM – Noon. The event will start sometime around Noon and end sometime after that.
Awards will be in the Main Lodge following the event and the Red Bull after-party featuring Sweet Water will be at the Timberwolf Pub at Summit West starting at 7PM.
Huge thanks to all the sponsors that make this event possible…Summit at Snoqualmie, Lib Tech, Snowboy Productions, Red Bull, Cobra Dogs, Think Thank and Snowboarder Magazine…support those who support you.
Any questions regarding riders, media or obscure 80’s trivia please contact Krush Kulesza at email@example.com …word.
