Red Bull Art of Flight Seattle Premier 9/10/11
![]()

Extreme version of Planet Earth…Shark Week on snow…3D in 2D…a lot has been said about The Art of Flight, some of which we just made up, but other things really have been. If you haven’t checked out the teaser for this movie yet…well then..you really need to. It’s been two years since Brainfarm’s last production “That’s It, That’s All”, and apparently it wasn’t it and it wasn’t all because they have really stepped up the bar this year with insane camera work, top notch production…oh ya, and some of the most progressive snowboarding ever captured on film.

Quiksilver Women's Spring Summer 2012 Preview
Quiksilver is one of the longest running brands in action sports, but that doesn’t mean they are about to take a back seat and let things get stale. For decades Quiksilver’s apparel evokes feelings of laid-back beach culture that we all can enjoy, envy, or relate to. We had a chance to check out the Quiksilver Women’s line, with the help of a real-life model, and see just what Quiksilver has been up to.
Obey Clothing Spring Summer 2012 Preview
If a brand’s coolness could be rated on a Richter scale, then Obey Clothing would rock you with an 8.7 magnitude of coolness. Why’s that? While most clothing companies start by making product then trying to tie in art after the fact, Obey started the exact opposite way. Beginning as a street art/graffiti project by Shepard Fairy, the Obey brand slowly gained awareness even before it was an actual brand or had things to sell. Clothing, bags, and everything else was a result of the original art influence. We got a chance to check out Obey at Agenda and their ever-expanding clothing and accessory lines. We apologize in advance for the poor quality of photos! The worst photos always look the best in your camera screen for some reason, and vice-verse.
Travel Tips From Real Travelers: Return of the Katz Lady
If you haven’t noticed by now, most of our feature tag lines work best when sung as a jingle. “Travel tips, from real travel-ers” is no exception. We just watched the King’s Speech the other day and learned that when you sing something you won’t make yourself stutter. Luckily you can’t stutter while typing or while reading in your head, so that doesn’t really apply to this blog post.
When we interviewed Micaela for this travel feature she could have been singing to herself while typing, because her words about travel certainly ring true. Although she is fairly young, she has done a bit of traveling and really earned her wings lately. Check out her advice about re-packing and having a good traveling companion below.
Arbor Collective Spring Summer 2012 Preview
You may recognize Arbor from their history in bamboo snowboards and bamboo skateboards, but did you know you can make clothes out of bamboo too?! These guys do, and they make a large portion of their mens and womens apparel line out of it. If you have never felt a fabric made from bamboo thread then you are really missing out- it is one of the softest and most naturally-breathable fabrics around. All of that is in addition to being super eco-friendly and renewable.

Makia Clothing Spring Summer 2012 Preview
A lot of new brands these days try to do the same thing that has been done many times before. Makia clothing is not one of those brands. Started in Finland by Joni Malmi and his clothing designer friend, they were looking for more clean and sophisticated clothing that them and their friends could wear. Going by the motto “Old But Still Gold”, Makia recruited a field of skate and snowboard veteran pros such as Peter Line, John Cardiel, and Jeff Brushie.
RVCA Clothing Spring Summer 2012 Preview
RVCA (pronounced roo-ka) is one of those special brands. It is not often that there is a brand that your younger brother, your mom, your surfer buddies, your artist peers, the snowboard dudes, the MMA guys and you would all be into. Founded back in 2001, RVCA became an instant classic with clean and progressive styles. The influence over RVCA’s spring and summer line goes back to a simpler time…before twitter, before Facebook, even before the internet…that’s right we’re talking about the 80′s. Movies like Sixteen Candles and The Breakfast Club not only influenced a lighter color pallet but also some thoughtful nostalgia. Along with their 80′s inspiration, RVCA is also making a big push with their Artist Network Program. You will see a lot of artist collaborations and signature product coming soon.
