2013 ABS Airbag System In Action

Share Button

The 2013 ABS Airbag System

The checklist of essential avalanche emergency equipment has added a crucial item.

  • Partner? Check.
  • Avalanche transceiver? Check.
  • Probe? Check.
  • Shovel? Check.
  • ABS Airbag? Check and double check.
  • Backcounty Safety Class? Check.

With more and more folks heading out into the backcountry, avalanche safety and awareness have become a prominent part of skiing for many skiers and snowboarders. Avoiding and preventing avalanches are your greatest weapons against avalanche burial, but in the unfortunate case of an avalanche, there has been no innovation that has been proven to prevent more burials than the ABS Airbag System.

2013 Anon M1 Magnetic Goggle First Look!

2013 anon M1 Goggle

The crew over at anon invited evo to their Seattle showroom to take a look at the new anon M1 Goggle. I enjoyed playing with magnets when I was a kid…anon has brought back that joy with the M1 Goggle. They have perfected the art of quick change goggle lens technology with Magna-Tech; the M1 Goggle is our pick for 2013.

As you can see from the video, the lens can be swapped out in just a couple seconds with a simple pull, switch and snap of the lens. And yes, the lens can be swapped while wearing them! I bet you can even change them mid-air in case of a foggy lens and you need to spot your landing. On or off your face, the M1 Goggle lens is fast and easy to change.

Exclusively from anon, they call them the “pinnacle of performance with an effortless perspective.” Personally, we think they are awesome for any mountain where the weather conditions can change minute to minute, especially here up in the PNW.  Plus, rumor has it that each M1 will come with two lenses as well, to cover you from grey bird to blue bird!

Help evo Support the Service Board

evo and the Service Board

The Service Board empowers youth to overcome obstacles and build strong community through snowboarding, public service, and a curriculum of social justice. We support tSB with product donations, a portion of our gallery sales, and the proceeds of our 10th anniversary party.

tSB believes that fun, discovery, and adventure are valuable and productive teaching tools, and we couldn’t agree more.

Many of us at evo were fortunate enough to benefit from such experiences and we want to help ensure that today’s youth have similar opportunities.Your donation can provide anything from a scholarship for one youth to go on a snowboarding trip to a home-cooked meal or a trip to the mountains on a Grey Line bus.

Atomic Tracker 16 & Salomon Guardian 16 AT Bindings Now at evo

Share Button

It was only a matter of time before we saw another alpine ski company release a new backcountry touring binding.  The sister companies, Atomic and Salomon have teamed up efforts to release the Atomic Tracker 16 and Salomon Guardian 16 (coming soon), respectively.   evo got a chance to check out the Tracker along with the rest of the 2013 Atomic line earlier this week and we think Atomic and Salomon really nailed it on the head with this one.   The engineers and athletes wanted to create an Alpine Touring binding that sat low to the ski, could handle being mounted on a wide ski and was not only easy to switch between ski and tour but was also very secure. Their athletes and engineers agree they hit a home run with this one.
