Spring Break 2013! evo’s 7 Best Places To Go For Spring Break
WOO-HOO! SPRING BREAK 2013!
By Jake Garrett, Spring Break 2013: It is on the way, or for some of you it’s already here; never-the-less it’s time to make the most of your extended break! It may cross your mind to head to the hot beaches of Miami, to the sands of Cancun, or even the bustling streets of a European city, but before you commit to any of those, here are a few other options that are sure to be an awesome time!
April 12-21, 2013: The World Ski and Snowboard Festival in Whistler, BC: If you’re looking for a good time at an awesome mountain, this is the one to go to! Ski and snowboard all day or take a chance to view the many events that are lined up throughout the week. Get a chance to see multiple free outdoor concerts from a great selection of bands or get your party on at night in the legendary bars and clubs that Whistler has to offer scattered throughout the village!
March 29th-April 7th is when Tailgate Alaska is going off and though it is limited to only 150 people, it is a festival to get your tickets for early! (sorry, tickets are sold out) Head up to Valdez Alaska to get 10 full days of powder snowboarding and skiing with a live DJ, classes in backcountry safety and kegs of beer from Alaska Brewing. This is quite possibly one of the most awesome festivals for skiers and snowboarders around.
March 21-31st is Aspen’s Bud Light Spring Jam, a week of events, concerts, rail jams, big air comps and party going, so if you don’t already have plans, let Aspen do the work. All you need to do is head over to the resort and get your spring break on!
No mention about Aspen can escape without a Dumb and Dumber quote: You know, I don’t really recall. Starts with an S! Let’s see. Swim? Swammi? Slippy? Slappy? Swenson? Swanson?
April 8-14th is Spring Back to Vail and what better way to send it off then to throw a bunch of parties, do some pond skimming and jam out to some live concerts! To make this year an even more crazy, Vail is celebrating its 50th anniversary, so you know its going to be a good time. Pack your bags, grab your board or two planks and send it big in Vail!
Pond skims, beer drinking, concerts, and the big blue lake under the sun in eastern California! There is never really a down time in the Lake Tahoe area when there are so many resorts and things to do. Head to Tahoe for events like St. Patty’s Spring Party Weekend (March 16-17th) the Pain McShlonkey Classic (March 29-30th), Spring Loaded at Heavenly (March 29th-April 14th), the Pond Skim at Mt. Rose (April 6th) and Red Bull’s Schlittentag at Alpine Meadows (April 6th)! And as an added bonus…it is always sunny at Lake Tahoe!
April 1-6th is a big music and snow festival that takes place in Mayrhofen Austria called Snowbombing, so if your Spring Break calls for the European experience with a bunch of snow, beers that come in litres, and English as a second language, then Snowbombing is the place to be! Austria! Well, then. G’day mate! Let’s put another shrimp on the barbie!
But… if all this is ski and snowboard business is just not that spring break feel you’re looking for, then there is always MTV’s Spring Break 1998!
