2015 Armada Skis Sneak Peek
2015 ARMADA SKIS SNEAK PEEK
By Nick Meilleur, Seattle, WA: This upcoming season, Armada Skis is back with more exciting designs, enticing graphics and simply put, great skis for freeskiers of all types. With a few new models in the lineup destined for the touring/randonnée crowd, we’re excited to try them out; long-time Armada rider JP Auclair helped with the R&D so you know they’re going to be good.
Out of these, the new guy is the Invictus. With tip rocker only, a flat tail, 108mm underfoot, a layer of metal for rigidity and carbon/kevlar fiber throughout, these freeride skis ask only one thing: point it and send’er.Magic J, Bubba, Declivity, Kufo, ARW" class="size-full wp-image-24004 post-image" title="2015 armada skis sneak peek" src="http://culture.evo.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/DSCN6296.jpg" alt="2015 armada skis sneak peek" width="587" height="783" srcset="http://culture.evo.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/DSCN6296-150x200.jpg 150w, http://culture.evo.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/DSCN6296.jpg 587w" sizes="(max-width: 587px) 100vw, 587px" />
Out of this lineup, let’s talk about the Declivity and the Kufo. The Declivity was designed and tested by the man himself, JP Auclair. The ski has 128-98-118 dimensions and JP considers it a “do-it-all” touring ski, still designed more for the descent than the ascent. Mellow tip rocker, a flat tail with skin clip, lightweight poplar core with (again) a layer of metal for rigidity and carbon/kevlar fiber combined with a longer 26m radius means this ski is designed for the steeps. Skinning efficiently, going fast and staying stable in all conditions is what JP designed the ski for and if that’s your cup of tea, you’d be hard-pressed to find a better set of planks.
On to the Kufo (which means…Keep Up or F**k Off). This ski is similar to the TST in shape, but with a lighter-weight poplar core and a flat tail with skin clip: these are free-touring skis more oriented for tree skiing, pillows, and deep pow.ARVTi, Al Dente, Kufo, Declivity, JJ 2.0" class="size-full wp-image-22619 post-image" title="2015 Armada Skis" src="http://culture.evo.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/DSCN6228.jpg" alt="2015 Armada Skis" width="587" height="783" srcset="http://culture.evo.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/DSCN6228-150x200.jpg 150w, http://culture.evo.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/DSCN6228.jpg 587w" sizes="(max-width: 587px) 100vw, 587px" />
The Al Dente, Swedish Rasta goblin Henrik Harlaut’s pro model ski is back with another street-inspired graphic featuring “The World is Yours” on the tail in homage to Nas, one of Edollo’s favorite artists.
The floral theme… so hot right now. Armada continues to offer awesome-looking outerwear, many models including a Gore-Tex membrane. This is awesome to see, considering technical wear with good style isn’t always easy to come by. Regardless of the type of skiing you do, staying warm and dry no matter what will get you stoked.
New apparel and mitts are rad too, I wonder who inspired that stuff?
We’re putting our money on these guys.
