Dirksen Derby 2014: Bachelor’s Banked Slalom Benefit is Back
DIRKSEN DERBY 2014: BACHELOR’S BANKED SLALOM BENEFIT IS BACK
By Taylor Boyd, Seattle, WA: The Dirksen Derby is the creation of Mt. Bachelor local and legendary professional snowboarder, Josh Dirksen. What started eight years ago as a small contest to benefit Dirksen’s friend and fellow Bachelor local Tyler Eklund, who was local paralyzed in a snowboarding accident, has become the destination banked slalom second only to the Mt. Baker’s LBS, drawing international superpros and local groms, alike. Though the Derby has grown immensely since its inception, its intent has not changed, and the increase in contestants means more stoke and more money donated to the cause. However, due to time and space restrictions, there is a firm cap of 500 participant slots (which will sell out), so make sure to register now if you want to race. evo is proud to support the 2014 Dirksen Derby alongside Patagonia, Smith, Dakine, Skullcandy, Karakoram, Drink Water, Crab Grab and more. We are psyched to head to Bend for Derby weekend. See you there.
