Gallery Recap: Justin Kious’s Winter Frame of Mind
Last Friday evo opened our April art gallery featuring photography from Justin Kious. Fans were greeted by Justin, a few dogs and sipping hot chocolate provided by Theo Chocolate served up by the Service Board.
His photos include many that were taken locally up near Mt. Baker, as well as all over the world. Justin also selected 2 long boards he created with the help of Arbor. His gallery will be on display at evo all month long. Check out some pictures and a video of Justin himself.
Completely addicting and wonderfully visually stimulating, Instagram is our number one app and is probably yours too. We figure if you are going to be scrolling through your friends creative takes on their morning coffee and new shoes you wouldn’t mind seeing some oustanding photos of AK powder, heli trips and snowboarding shenanigans either.

Calling all Instagramers! evo is now on Instagram. Do you like often random, beautiful and extremely hip looking pictures? What about pictures of tons of snow, awesome industry events, a 2lbs. bag of hot chocolate, Chris dusting our evo neon sign, or people hucking themselves on a USAirbag at Stevens Pass? We don’t blame you!

Even though it’s May and most resorts across North America are closed, that does not mean that professional snowboarders are getting to take it easy yet. For 15 years now Snowboarder Mag’s Superpark has traveled around the country and pushed the feasible limits of snowboarding as much or more than any Olympic or X-contest. Snowboarder Mag invites terrain park crews from across the country to each build a massive, creative feature and hand picks snowboarders to come hit them and photographers and videographers to document it all. One of those photographers is our buddy Jordan Ingmire, you may remember him from a Photographer Insight or two. Check out his take on Superpark and a bunch of photos that he took so far.
Ian Coble goes non-stop all winter long, hiking in the snow, long hours, cold temperatures…to get some of the best shots around. We follow Ian’s blog religiously and live our desk-winter through his photos. Check out his latest post where he talks about going into the North Cascade backcountry with evo‘s Bryce Phillips, doing a hike that took 4 times longer than usual because of deep snow and working around avalanche dangers.
We haven’t had much contact with our photographer buddy Jordan Ingmire lately, but who can expect anyone to get on email when it has been as good as it’s been in the Northwest? Sounds like he knows what he’s doing.
As awesome as the Northwest is, sometimes you just gotta get out. Our buddy Jordan Ingmire and his crew headed east, to Montana, to film for the new Wildcard movie. Where apparently it’s really good. Check out some photos from their trip below.
With a warm and wet start to 2011, the snowpack in the Cascades sent us searching for a La Nina with more love. After mining weather sites on the ole interweb, signs pointed to gold in Montana. We were going prospecting. But it hasn’t been all sunshine and pow turns. From a red eye 36 hr RV mission to poaching hotel rooms, we’ve been pioneering some sort of something. Heres a few from the last few days. -Nathaniel Murphy
