There is still a bit of a buzz from this year’sevoTrip now that we have been back here in the Northwest for a couple of weeks. To see 16 people from around the nation sign up for a trip with evoand the friendships that developed as a result has been really rewarding. Admittedly, when we opened this up through evo.com, we weren’t quite sure who all would join us. We quickly learned that the diversity in origins, age, snow-sliding devices, sex, backgrounds and personalities made for a really dynamic group with the passion for travel and the mountains working as a common thread that would stitch us all together.
Just days before his wedding, evocopy-writer Jordan Sunshine, along with a group of friends, threw a bachelor party in a true evofashion: with an epic trip toRed Mountain Resortin British Columbia! From fresh pillows to hot tubbing to roof drops, this sounded like a great way to enjoy those last few days of freedom! (Just kidding) Congratulations on your wedding, and we wish you a happy marriage!
Here are some highlights of the trip from Jordan himself:
evo & the “Women of Winter” got together for the 2nd annual backcountry clinic last weekend. We kicked things off with a meet and greet at evo Seattle where Christina Von Mertens from Crystal Mountain Resort Ski Patrol led a basic avalanche awareness overview. Rome, Burton, Black Diamond, Dynafit and BCA graciously provided touring gear, making it possible for 30 of the PNW’s most awesome ladies to hit the backcountry.
Do you want to ride next year’s skis and snowboards before anybody else? Got your eye on the new Atomic Automatic or maybe the Burton Family Tree Series? Do you have lot of opinions that you want to be heard about skis and snowboards? Do you want to have a memorable day riding industry insiders? If you answered yes to any of these questions then you sound like the perfect candidate forevo’s Super Ultimate Demo Days at Stevens Pass.
This is your chance to ski and ride in an intimate group of reps, athletes, and a small handful of other demo-ers to try out next years gear and contribute to product reviews for the website.

Hakuba is part of the Nagano prefecture of Japan which hosted the 1998 Winter Olympic Games. It’s home to so many different ski resorts.
The evo Trip crew spread out and hit Happo One, Hakuba 47, Cortina and Tsugaike-Kogan ski areas over the last couple days in the warm sunshine.
It was so warm some skied topless! Watch out for sun burns. We followed up the ski days with incredible food and drink in town. No one in our group had experienced better sushi and sake.
Our Japan experience went well beyond the mountains today; we visited the snow monkeys and looked for spiritual awakening. The snow monkeys were incredible, so human-like as they bathed in their hot springs. We followed up the monkey business with a stop at the Zenkoji Temple to rub incense smoke on our bodies for good health and find enlightenment in a pitch-black tunnel below Zenkoji’s main hall.
Trip member Chris Edwards says:
“Japan has been incredible so far. Blue bird pow days, snow monkeys, sushi, sake, new friends and lots of laughs. There isn’t much else I could ask for. I’m so glad I came on this trip.”
