Backloop with Bryce Phillips from NIMBUS INDEPENDENT on Vimeo.
Check out Bryce Phillips in this clip from NIMBUS INDEPENDENT. Bryce launches himself into some turbulent air and his pinkie took the full impact of the landing. Nimbus was there to capture it all.
*This video is not for the squeamish, unless you like broken fingers, then you will love it…but perfect for Halloween!

Not sure how much you have been paying attention to our blog and our team over the summer, but if we were having a quiz, a couple questions would be:
1) Who is the most ripping-est female skier on the evo team?
2) Where is the ultimate Southern Hemisphereic training ground?
If you answered Vanessa Aadland and New Zealand you were correct. Check out her summary of her trip this summer and learn that along with the high’s, there are also some low’s, but you learn to take them in stride. Read more to make sense of what we are talking about.

Even though it’s not really summer anymore, evo Team Rider Jesse Gouveia and his friends just sent us this video recapping their summer down at Mt. Hood. If you have never made it there and you are an aspiring skier or snowboarder it is the best place to progress your skills with like-minded individuals. Check out their edit below and let us know what you think.

Being a kid during summer break was the best! No school, no homework…nothing to do but to hang out with your friends and have fun. A couple of our evo ski team riders, Jamie Baril and Erik Stai, know how to have fun over the summer. They and their friends put together this video chronicling the last two weeks of their summer vacation which include a trip to Timberline, BBQ’ing, camping, and bridge jumping. Video by Abe Krieger. Oh to be young again!

We are not quite sure if this falls under a Team Update, a Travel Tips From Real Travelers, or something else we can’t classify yet, but evo founder and K2 Team rider Bryce Phillips just got back from a near month-long trip to Chile and Peru to ski, surf and kiteboard. Needless to say we are pretty jealous of anyone getting pow turns in August, especially if they work in the same office as us. Check out a recap from Bryce’s trip, get some tips for your future trip to South America, and drool over some photos of untracked lines.

This time of year we start to get really excited for the winter season. The days start to get shorter and the first cloudy cool day in Seattle gets us breaking out our jackets and beanies. Needless to say, we are ready for winter. Check out the latest episode from our friends at Nimbus Independent entitled “A Tribe Called Nimbus“, featuring evo Skiers Eric Pollard and Chris Benchetler as they shred some pow in the California backcountry.

Not only is evo Team Rider Randa Shahin a ripping snowboarder, she is also a ripping teacher. Randa works at Windell’s Academy as a math and science specialist. She hits the slopes and the books all in the same day. Working at Windell’s is awesome for Randa because she can coach snowboarding and teach kids looking to get their high school diplomas all in the same place. She sent us over a little season recap video she put together with footage of some of the trips she went on this last winter and contests she entered. Check it out below! Our team rocks. Not only do they snowboard and ski all winter long, they also spend a good deal of time riding in the summer too. That’s dedication holmes. Sometimes it is hard to even track them down because they are so busy, but then we remember the joys of the Digital Age and jump right into a Facebook interview. Jesse Gouveia is one busy dude. Barely out of high school and has a pretty good shred-future ahead of time. He spends his summers down at Mt. Hood as a camp counselor at High Cascade Snowboard Camp. Getting a job down there can be tough, but once you’re in it is a perfect job for an aspiring snowboarder. We caught up with Jesse a couple times while he was waiting out a rain day and in between camp sessions.

Our team is pretty amazing. Travelin’ the world on a minimal budget, living the life we wish we could, skiing year-round…sounds pretty nice. Sometimes it is hard to catch up with them, luckily we have The Facebook to help connect us. We know that sounds cheesy, but we don’t mean “connect” in the proverbial sense, more of a in-addition-to-email sort of way. Vanessa is taking her summer vacation down in New Zealand, during their winter, for an experience of a lifetime. Check out the interview to learn what it takes to get down there and how friendly everyone is there.

It can be hard to catch up with our team sometimes…everyone is off traveling different parts of the world, some don’t have cell phones, and some barely speak English. Luckily Facebook email is there, and pretty much all of us have one. Even evo has a Facebook, and you should check it out. (Shameless plug). So when we do get a chance to catch up with someone we have to make the most of it. If you have ever tried to conduct an interview before: job interview, magazine interview, interview with a vampire…you know that it is hard to think up good questions all at once, off the top of your head. Unless you are Larry King, you usually come up with better questions later on, after the fact. This interview spans over a few days of when we had time to think up some good questions and were able to make time in our busy schedules.
