2013 Union Charger – A Legend in the Making
Union has been making the PNW proud by making some of the best snowboard bindings out there for the past seven years, and we’re looking forward to what they have in store for the future. Union has been dedicated to making bindings that can seamlessly connect a rider to their board, with pure comfort and performance being the backbone.
The Union Charger comes into the 2013 Union collection of bindings in between the Union MC Metafuse and the Union SL bindings. It’s definitely a higher end binding, but not far out of reach.The Union Charger is also Temple Cummins binding of choice. If you can’t trust a 4-time winner of the Mt. Baker Legendary Banked Slalom about snowboard bindings, then who can, you trust?

The Union Charger’s base tray is taken from the Union Atlas and carbon-injected with Dupont™ Zytel®, bringing the binding to new standards in performance-to-weight ratio. Union Bindings are already the lightest snowboard bindings available, so they pretty much said, “Let’s make it lighter!”
A full carbon highback is used for the light-weight and strength it provides. Any move you want to make, this highback will do, making it extremely responsive. When you’re shooting down the face of a mountain at top speed, you want the most response you can get.
Straps are one of the biggest factors when it comes to comfort in a pair of snowboard bindings. Union has an All-New 3D Direct Connect Ankle Strap on the Charger. Multiple layers of materials go into the tapered straps core to give you various levels of support and comfort evenly distributing pressure so you won’t ever have those irritating pressure points when you finish a run.

For 2013, the famous Fusion series of boots from Salomon gets a makeover. As someone with insanely sensitive feet, I’m one of the more picky people when it comes to my snowboard boots and Salomon has a selection of boots to fit a good variety of feet. The new Salomon F3.0 boots replaces the F22, giving the Fusion line a bit of a rebirth.

Meet the elusive Carly Crabb. Rarely seen in front of the lens, she helps out to keep our photography looking sharp. She also rules our photo and copy interns with an iron fist…requiring constant coffee and gummy bear delivery for her. The most common question she is asked starts with “Hey Carly, can you shoot (fill in the blank).” Or “Hey Carly, can you film (fill in the blank).” Carly is also the only person in the world that is ok with flying from Denver to Seattle via Dallas.
