Union has been making the PNW proud by making some of the best snowboard bindings out there for the past seven years, and we’re looking forward to what they have in store for the future. Unionhas been dedicated to making bindings that can seamlessly connect a rider to their board, with pure comfort and performance being the backbone.
The Union Charger comes into the 2013 Unioncollection of bindings in between the Union MC Metafuse and the Union SLbindings. It’s definitely a higher end binding, but not far out of reach. The Union Charger is also Temple Cummins binding of choice. If you can’t trust a 4-time winner of the Mt. Baker Legendary Banked Slalom about snowboard bindings, then who can, you trust?
Features
The Union Charger’s base tray is taken from the Union Atlas and carbon-injected with Dupont™ Zytel®, bringing the binding to new standards in performance-to-weight ratio. Union Bindings are already the lightest snowboard bindings available, so they pretty much said, “Let’s make it lighter!”
A full carbon highback is used for the light-weight and strength it provides. Any move you want to make, this highback will do, making it extremely responsive. When you’re shooting down the face of a mountain at top speed, you want the most response you can get.
Straps are one of the biggest factors when it comes to comfort in a pair of snowboard bindings. Unionhas an All-New 3D Direct Connect Ankle Strap on the Charger. Multiple layers of materials go into the tapered straps core to give you various levels of support and comfort evenly distributing pressure so you won’t ever have those irritating pressure points when you finish a run.
If you’re looking for a binding to charge through the day with, then grab the binding with the word in it. The Union Charger.
For 2013, the famous Fusion series of boots from Salomongets a makeover. As someone with insanely sensitive feet, I’m one of the more picky people when it comes to my snowboard boots and Salomonhas a selection of boots to fit a good variety of feet. The newSalomon F3.0 boots replaces the F22, giving the Fusion line a bit of a rebirth.
Meet the elusive Carly Crabb. Rarely seen in front of the lens, she helps out to keep our photography looking sharp. She also rules our photo and copy interns with an iron fist…requiring constant coffee and gummy bear delivery for her. The most common question she is asked starts with “Hey Carly, can you shoot (fill in the blank).” Or “Hey Carly, can you film (fill in the blank).” Carly is also the only person in the world that is ok with flying from Denver to Seattle via Dallas.
In celebration of evo’s 10 year anniversary, over the next few months, we will bring you true and uncensored stories from real evo employees. The participants are not actors, they are actual litigants with a case pending in evo employees telling our story to you!
Our first clip is of Atsuko, our fearless leader. Atsuko reflects on the the past and the future of evo, her fish, candy and hatred of birds. (editorial note: I love rare birds)
A big thanks to CONTOUR for providing the cameras while we film our stories.
“After ten years of growth through some of the most innovative decisions and challenging times in the action sports industry, Seattle-based Evolución Innovations (evo) has become a rare entity in the retail sector through a successfully backwards business model – first online, then brick-and-mortar, and in the near future, print.”
