evo Takes A Tour of Ride Snowboard’s Global HQ and R&D Facility

P3033734

The other day, evo, along with members of the Seattle media and one lucky winner of our Facebook friends got to go down to the Ride Snowboards Global Headquarters and take a tour of their offices and R&D Facility. Before we got into the tour we met with Brendan O’Dowd, co-founder of the Ride Shakedown, which will be happening at the Summit at Snoqualmie March 18-19, and got to learn a little more about this upcoming contest.

The Shakedown has been one of the biggest contests in snowboarding the last few years and this will be the second year that the three-stop international contest will be in Washington. We are pretty fortunate to have a contest of this magnitude in the Pacific Northwest as the other stops are in Europe and Montreal Canada. The Shakedown has a unique jam format that combines a big air jump with a jib feature and riders have to call their tricks before their runs in order to be judged.

There were probably about 20 people on the tour and you most-likely were not there, but follow along for a photo-tour of Ride’s headquarters and maybe get a peek at some of next years or next-next years product.

New arrivals
2011 Ride Snowboard Gear Has Arrived!

As you may have noticed by now (unless you don’t normally read our blog or get our email) next season’s brand new gear is hitting the site faster than the snow on our polar ice caps is melting. Ride Snowboards are the latest to hit the streets.

Details 2011 Ride Snowboard Gear Has Arrived!

I don’t smoke, but once I tried to cure my coffee addiction by chewing Nicorette instead. Yes, I developed an addiction to a cure for something I was never addicted to. So I figured I’d start smoking to counteract my Nicorette addiction. Just kidding, I don’t smoke. The point is that withdrawal gets messy and it’s no fun for anyone. Embrace your snowboard addiction! Ride’s 2011 line offers an endless supply of boards, boots and bindings for your pleasure, whether you’re looking for hardcore stuff or are just a recreational user. Get into it here.

  • LSD: Ladies Specific Design. Ride recognizes, in the words of Jay-Z, that “ladies is pimps too”. Their new rocker, waist and flex patterns are designed specifically for women. Load up on women’s gear early!
  • Hemp Brain: For 2011 Ride has created boards that are lighter and stronger by eliminating top sheep plastic, so you’re left only with what’s pure and don’t have to deal with uneccessary chemicals.
  • New progressive design: Rocker shapes and cambers paired with a variety of flex patterns and sidecuts. Especially edgy are the Machete and Highlife. Also be sure to check out the Contraband bindings. They’re Ride’s quick and easy solution for those who just can’t wait.
  • Just because it’s summer doesn’t mean you should repress your need for riding. Get hooked up and keep the love alive!
