Sneak Peek – 2015 Atomic Bent Chetler
SNEAK PEEK – 2015 ATOMIC BENT CHETLER
By Chris Shalbot, Seattle, WA: Maybe you’ve seen it on your Instagram or heard murmurs on the ski forums, or maybe we’re just ahead of the curve. Atomic and evo Athlete Chris Benchetler are unveiling the newly revamped 2015 Atomic Bent Chetler. With an all-new shape, size run and something new called HRZN Tech, this 6th generation Bent Chetler is the best to date. We were able to get our hands on a pair for the official launch today, Thursday, January 16th, and here’s the scoop.
The 2015 Bent Chetler will be slimmed down 3 mm to just 12 0mm in the waist. It retains the same tip and tail dimensions and a 19 M turn radius. Atomic added its Lite Woodcore for weight savings but retained the Carbon Sprocket Boosters for added stability and pop. Another update is that it will now come in three sizes, the new, shorter 178 cm along with Chris’s personal choice, the 185 cm, and the big gun comes in at a 192 cm again.
Probably the biggest news and what we’re most curious about is the introduction of HRZN Tech in which Atomic has applied ABS sidewall material to the rockered portions of the tip and tail to create a convex surface area. After numerous prototypes and mad-scientist creations, they finally found a way to bring Chris’s love for surfing to his skis. It is said to give the ski more float and less deflection, providing a more playful feel in soft snow.
Once again the Bent Chetlers feature Chris’s own art with a glossy cosmic sunset over the matte finished Mineretes, the sub range of the Sierra Nevada Mountains which Chris calls home. The swirl of sunset colors carry over to the base and pop when freshly waxed affirming this to be our favorite graphic Chris has turned out.
