Summit at Snoqualmie – evo blog | Culture, Events, Happenings and Witty Banter

Hide Yo Kids Hide Yo Wife Because Rome’s Stoken Ever’body!

Did you think you could ever reach maximum Stoken-ness without leaving earth? Ya us either. But Rome Snowboard’s and The Summit at Snoqualmie are making it happen on March 26th.

For the fourth year Rome SDS brings you the end of season stoke you crave. Stoken is the un-contests of all contests. It’s a time to celebrate the shred season as it winds down and warms up, in a huge crew moving from feature to feature just having a good time.

The Stoken may include: all, some, or none of the following good times:

  • Reverse Limbo Ollie Bar – mad ups bro
  • One Hitters – could be a hip, quarter pipe, pipe, or on the chairlift
  • The Long Slash – spray and pray
  • Barrel Bonks – little tap, tap, taparoo
  • Mystery Flavor – could be anything…

We’ll all be traveling as a pack from feature to feature, sessioning each jib or event in a super loose good-times jam format. And while the Stoken isn’t about winning, we still want to hook up a few people displaying the largest stoke quantity with a few extra items.

  • First in Stoke – 2012 Mob Bindings
  • Second in Stoke – 2012 Rome Jacket
  • Third in Stoke – 2012 Rome Backpack

At the end of it all we’ll wrap it all up with a good ol’ product toss and possibly some hot dogs down in the parking lot.

Where: Summit Central at Snoqualmie

When: Saturday March 26th

Out of Office: evo Marketing at Alpental

alpental_2

On the second-to-the-last day of 2010, evo Marketing took a day to do a little bonding and hit up Alpental. It turned out to be one of the most epic days ever: bluebird, a foot cold dry powder, and good people to share in the turns with. We arrived at Alpental, along with everyone else in Seattle, just before 9am to blinding sun and cold temps. This is Washington winter…our eyes were not ready for that much natural light. We hopped in line at Chair 2 for a very scenic ride to the top. It seemed to take forever because we were so excited to get down. A few of us were Alpental-newbies and luckily we ran into our buddies Steven and Barry who took us on a short hike to one of the best runs we’ve ever taken. It’s not often in the NW that we experience powder as light as yesterday and it was quite the treat. All in all it turned out to be an awesome day and an even better day to sneak away from the office for some team building. We washed down the epic-ness of the day with some beers and food down at the North Bend Bar and Grill and tiredly made our way back to Seattle feeling very satisfied to wrap up 2010 the way we did. Special thanks to Krush and everyone else at the Summit at Snoqualmie for constantly killing it!

We were a little too busy getting wicked, but check out some of the photos we were able to take here or below if that thing ever works.

Jib This! and Jib That! Contest Recap

PC183104

This snowy/sunny/windy weekend at the Summit at Snoqualmie, a jib bonanza went down.  Jib This! and Jib That! brought one day of snowboarders and one day of skiers  hucking themselves down 3 rail features set up by the Summit Park Crew and Snowboy Productions. There was a down ledge, a down-flat-down green pipe, and a down rail with a donkey-kink at the end. There were some amazing tricks being thrown down on the donkey rail like a 360 out through the kink at the end. The green monster rail was set up for some smooth board slides and gaps over the first half down to the bottom half. The first day brought out about 60 kids ready to show their stuff for a selection of prizes from COAL, CAPiTA, evo, POW, and Smith. Prizes were being awarded during the comp for tricks that impressed the judges, everyone walked away with at least something and the winner received a brand new Capita Horrorscope Snowboard for his efforts and all-around slaying of every feature.

Event Recap: Rome’s Premature Jibulation at Summit Central

Saturday Dec 4th marked the return of Rome’s Premature Jibulation contest to the Summit at Snoqualmie. After a slow start in the morning we got up to the contest during open practice and things were already starting to get wild. Backflips off of rails…spins on/spins off…there was a lot being thrown down. It was a rare sunny, cold, windy day up at the Summit and all of the bystanders were pretty bundled up. It did not slow down the kids who were hiking the rail set up all day in sweatshirts and no gloves.

evo Switch Day at the Summit at Snoqualmie

It has kind of become a tradition over here at evo, trading up w/ our 2 plank or knuckle dragging counterparts at least once a year to celebrate the diversity in our offices.  Granted, some of us both ski and snowboard regularly throughout the season,  most of us don’t.  This year we added a “team” component and themes.  Each team had a theme, i think there was “TALL TEES”, “PROM” and “NEON” this year…. the “PROM” crew definitely took the Gold Medal.  Anyhow, it was a ton of fun, you should try switching up one day!  …love your neighbors whether they ski or snowboard!
